Celebrities Reveal Their Favorite Love Song

By Darlene Donloe

What better way to celebrate the holiday of love than with a timeless love song? Songs have a way of evoking emotions, sparking memories, or setting the mood for romance.

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I asked celebrities: What is your favorite love song?

Cedric The Entertainer

CEDRIC THE ENTERTAINER (The Neighborhood) I gotta say Always and Forever by Heatwave and Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon in the Sky.” These are really beautiful love songs.

Rick Braun

RICK BRAUN (jazz trumpeter) My One and Only Love; also Nancy (With The Laughing Face), and Get Here

Mickey Stevenson

MICKEY STEVENSON (Motown legendary songwriter) My Baby Loves Me.

Tichina Arnold

TICHINA ARNOLD (The Neighborhood): Girl, that's easy! Heatwave’s “Always and Forever.”

Jay Will

JAY WILL: (Rob Peace/Tulsa King): I’m a lover boy.  I grew up with Anita Baker. Sweet Love and Rapture. It has to be something by Al Green or The Isley Brothers.

Michael Abels

MICHAEL ABLES (Pulitzer Prize-winning composer for ‘OMAR’/ Composer for Jordan Peele’s ‘Get Out’ and ‘Us’) The first one that came to my mind is ‘All The Things You Are.’

Dave Koz

DAVE KOZ: Moon River by Henry Mancini.

Jay Ellis

JAY ELLIS (Insecure): Never Too Much and House Is Not A Home by Luther Vandross

Sheaun McKinney

SHEAUN MCKINNEY (The Neighborhood): It’s a fluid answer. It depends on where you are in your life. I’m in a new relationship, and it's going very well. It changes, right?  I’d have to say, ‘My Greatest Inspiration’ by Teddy Pendergrass.

James Anthony Tyler

JAMES ANTHONY TYLER: (playwright) Love by Musiq Soulchild

Marcel Spears

MARCEL SPEARS (The Neighborhood) Ribbon in the Sky by Stevie Wonder, Stevie Wonder’s My Cherie Amore, or Frankie Beverly and Maze’s ‘I Want To Thank You.’  It doesn’t sound like a love song at first, but if you listen to the words, it comes from a place of gratitude.

Christian Sands

CHRISTIAN SANDS (jazz pianist): La La Means I Love – The Delfonics; Stay in My Corner – The Dells

Blaine Krauss

BLAINE KRAUSS (Hamilton) Lately by Stevie Wonder – but that’s a heartbreaker. Hmmm, I don’t know.
