Andern Educational Research, Inc. (AER) is a new nonprofit that was founded in 2012 by a group of dedicated parents and educators with the mission to develop, promote, support, and provide educational opportunities to students of color and families who live in low income and undeserved areas of the community. AER’s main goal is to considerably increase the number of well-educated young people of color who are prepared to assume and excel in positions of responsibility and leadership in American society. In the first year of operations, Andern has made an impact in the community by contributing over $100,000 in scholarships and funds to support students of color attending private high schools, $50,000 has been contributed in support of local charter schools and over $25,000 in support to community based organizations that provide education, health and fitness and mentoring services to young people. Through outreach in these communities, GEMs identifies and brings awareness to the educational opportunities available to these students. GEMs serves as a resource to our private schools while providing educational and financial support of up to $20,000 over 4 years for each student we place in a private high school.
