Painter Chaz Guest Presents 'Buffalo Warrior'

On Saturday, August 26, 2017, emergent painter Chaz Guest hosted an Artist Talk & Book Signing at the Patrick Painter Gallery, entitled “Buffalo Warrior.”

Buffalo Warrior tells the mythical tale of a boy born into slavery.  When he becomes a man he enlists in the Army to fight an unjust war as a Buffalo Soldier.  Upon his death in battle, he is reborn to become a super-hero in present day.

Guest is well-known for his portrait of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, which was acquired by then Senator Barack Obama.  It then hung in the Oval Office during his presidency and subsequently is now part of the collection in the private home of Barack & Michelle.  Collectors of his work include U.S. Ambassador Michael Lawson [w. Mattie McFadden Lawson], Oprah Winfrey, Philanthropist Richard and Laura Parsons, Denzel & Pauletta Washington, Netflix Executive Ted Sarandos [w. Nicole Avant], Tyler Perry, LA & Erica Reid, Vanessa Williams and Clarence & Jackie Avant.

The solo exhibition is currently on display through September 2, 2017. Patrick Painter Gallery is located at 2525 Michigan Avenue, Unit B2, in Santa Monica, California.
