Will
Downing is a survivor.
He’s
a survivor in more ways than one. His career has taken a roller coaster route,
especially in 2007 when he suffered a medical setback. But that didn’t damper
or stop Downing from creating music. With pure determination, commitment and
incredible talent he has managed to keep his fans intact for more than 25 years.
Downing,
who goes by the moniker the Prince Of
Sophisticated Soul, recently steamed up the stage at Club Nokia in Los
Angeles with his luscious and sensual vocals.
Donned
in a black suit, complemented with a fun-loving personality and dazzling smile,
Downing took the stage before an appreciative crowd.
Will Downing
Backed
by a four-piece band and two backup singers, he started his more than two hour
set with Marvin Gaye’s You Sure Love to
Ball and glided into Don’t Talk To Me
Like That from his 2002 Sensual
Journey CD.
Mixing
up his hits with some samples and standards, Downing kept the audience
aroused. A master vocalists, Downing broke
into A Million Ways To Please A Woman,
the fan favorite, I Try, Wishing On A Star, Michael Jackson’s I Can’t Help It, Send For Me, I Go Crazy
and more.
A
master of witty repartee, in between songs Downing kept the crowd in stitches
with personal stories and stories about relationships.
He
quipped about how he ‘can break down any woman’ and how ‘for some strange
reason women like my black ass.’
Downing
is a veteran performer who knows how to work a stage and a crowd. He had the
mostly female audience in the palm of his hand.
Last April, Downing released Chocolate Drops, his 18th studio album. The CD, available on Amazon and ITunes.com,
has a mix of high-quality vocals, songwriting and production, as well as stimulating
interpretative remakes.
Sounding
better than ever, Will Downing is one of those tried and true performers who
always delivers.
The
problem is he’s not around enough!
