"Peeples," Out Sept 10 On Blue-Ray Disc, DVD

SANTA MONICA, CA, July 9, 2013 – Get ready to crash this family reunion when Tyler Perry presents Peeples arrives on Blu-ray Disc (plus Digital Copy and UltraViolet), DVD (plus Digital Copy and UltraViolet), Digital Download and Pay-Per-View on September 10 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. The hilarious film will premiere early on Video On Demand on August 27. It is headlined by an all-star cast that includes Craig Robinson (TV’s “The Office,” This is the End), Kerry Washington (TV’s “Scandal,” Django Unchained), David Alan Grier (TV’s “In Living Color”), S. Epatha Merkerson (TV’s “Law and Order”), Tyler James Williams (TV’s “Everybody Hates Chris”), with Melvin Van Peebles (Sweet Sweetback’s Badasssss Song, Panther) and Academy Award® nominee Diahann Carroll (Claudine, Best Actress, 1974; TV’s “White Collar”). Written and directed by Tina Gordon Chism, Peeples is a funny look at a rite of passage that anyone in a long term relationship has to face sooner or later…winning over the in-laws!

Sparks fly when Grace (Washington) takes off for the preppy Peeples’ annual reunion in the Hamptons the very weekend her boyfriend Wade Walker (Robinson) was going to propose! Undeterred, Wade heads to the Hamptons to surprise her. He might be a fish-out-of-water among this seemingly perfect East Coast clan, but he’s not about to let himself flounder. Instead, in a wild weekend of fun, dysfunction and hilarious surprises, Wade and Grace discover there’s room for all kinds of Peeples in this family, no matter their differences.

The Peeples Blu-ray Disc and DVD bonus materials include a three part “making of” featurette that explores the film’s characters, the cast and crew of the film and is highlighted by a jam session with the cast.  Also featuring a cast/crew audio commentary and a gag reel, Peeples will be available on Blu-ray Disc and DVD for the suggested retail price of $24.99 and $19.98, respectively.

ABOUT TYLER PERRY
Born into poverty and raised in a household scarred by abuse, Perry’s strength, faith and perseverance would later form the foundations of his plays, films, books and shows. A simple piece of advice from Oprah set his career in motion as a diary of his daily thoughts and experiences led to his writing of a musical, I Know I’ve Been Changed, in 1992. Five years later with no money left, sleeping in seedy motels and his car, Perry’s faith in himself and God only got stronger, allowing him to forge ahead. In 1998, his perseverance paid off when the play began a limited church run. The community came out in droves and Perry never looked back as he began an incredible run of eight plays in eight years. Madea first debuted in 2000’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself and spawned three more plays leading to Perry’s jump to the big screen with 2005’s Diary of a Mad Black Woman, which debuted at #1 nationwide. He followed with twelve more films, which were all met with massive fan support and commercial success and have grossed more than a billion dollars collectively.  In April 2013, his 34th Street films banner released its first title, Peeples starring Kerry Washington.  Perry’s book, Don’t Make A Black Woman Take Off Her Earrings: Madea’s Uninhibited Commentaries On Life and Love, shot to the top of the New York Times bestseller list and claimed two Quill Book Awards. In 2007, Perry expanded his brand to television with House of Payne, the highest-rated first-run syndicated cable show of all time and followed that up with Meet the Browns and For Better or Worse.  This month, he will join forces with Oprah Winfrey’s OWN to debut his two new television shows, The Haves and the Have Nots and Love Thy Neighbor.
